Here in Tampa Bay were incredibly proud of our NHL team, the Lightning. Those who couldnt attend a game gathered instead at watch parties, bars, and homes in every corner of the Tampa Bay area to watch and celebrate the Lightnings commendable performance in the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs. And the fandom didnt end there. Fast forward to the October debut of Masaryktowns Harvestmoon Farms 2015 Corn Maze- a 5-acre tribute to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
This is the third year that husband and wife team Demetri and Christina Falakos have offered an autumn corn maze to the public. However, its the first time Harvestmoon Farm has honored a sports team with their maze design. With help from a cornfield maze carving company (who else had no idea these existed?), seeds were planted in July, and once they grew to six inches the maze was cut into the field. The cornfield combines three separate mazes this year, and depending on skill level and sense of direction, each one could take from 20 minutes to as long as an hour to get though. Never fear that youll be lost in there forever, though, as guides are positioned throughout the mazes to help folks find their way out.
Harvest Moon Farms is located in Masaryktown, Hernando County, about 45 minutes north of Tampa. The corn maze is part of their yearly fall activities, which include a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, barnyard/playground games for kids, and much more. The farm is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. (last maze entry at 4 p.m.), and a flash-light maze will be offered on October 24th and November 7th from 7-10 p.m. (last maze entry at 9 p.m.).
